Using this site means agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of mystaircalculator.com (the "Site"), operated by the mystaircalculator.com team ("we," "us," or "our"). By visiting the Site or using any calculator on it, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree with any part of them, your only recourse is to stop using the Site.
These Terms apply to every visitor — there's no separate account-holder tier, because the Site doesn't offer accounts. If you're using the Site on behalf of an organization, you're confirming you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
What you can — and can't — do here
APermitted use
You may use any calculator on the Site for personal or professional project planning, free of charge, without creating an account. You may link to any page on the Site.
BAge & capacity
The Site is intended for a general adult audience. By using it, you represent that you're at least 13 years old and, if you're under 18, that you're using it with a parent or guardian's awareness.
CProhibited conduct
You agree not to scrape or bulk-download the Site's content or code in a way that degrades service, attempt to bypass any security measure, introduce malware, or use the Site for any unlawful purpose.
DNo warranty of availability
We aim to keep the Site available and each calculator functioning, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, with or without notice.
Planning aids, not stamped engineering documents
This is the single most important section on this page. Read it before you cut a single stringer.
Every calculator on the Site — all 93 of them — is provided as a free planning and estimation tool. Formulas are written to reflect the general provisions of the International Residential Code (IRC), International Building Code (IBC), ADA Standards, and ICC A117.1 as cited on each individual calculator page, but code requirements vary by state, county, and local amendment, and codes are updated over time.
No calculator on this Site replaces a licensed architect, structural engineer, or your local building department's plan review and inspection. Final dimensions, load calculations, and code compliance for any real-world construction must be verified against the code your local jurisdiction has actually adopted, and, where required, stamped or approved by a qualified professional before you build.
Who owns what's on the Site
The Site's design, layout, calculator interfaces, original text, and underlying code are owned by mystaircalculator.com or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may view and use the Site for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, reproduce, republish, or create derivative works from the Site's design or code without our written permission.
References to the IRC, IBC, ADA, and ICC A117.1 are made for informational and citation purposes only; those code documents remain the property of their respective publishing bodies (the International Code Council and the U.S. Department of Justice, respectively) and aren't reproduced on the Site in full.
The Site is provided "as is"
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and every calculator, guide, and page on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We work to keep formulas and code citations accurate and current, and welcome correction reports through the Contact Us page, but we don't warrant that any calculation, code reference, or piece of content on the Site is complete, error-free, or up to date with the latest local amendments.
What we're not responsible for
To the fullest extent permitted by law, mystaircalculator.com and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, construction rework costs, injury, or property damage — arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any calculator on it, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Because every calculator is free, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site, to the extent it isn't excluded above, is limited to fifty US dollars ($50). Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages or implied warranties, so some of the limitations above may not apply to you.
Links off the Site aren't ours to guarantee
The Site may link to third-party resources — code bodies, manufacturers, or other reference material — for convenience. We don't control and aren't responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party site, and linking to one doesn't imply our endorsement of it. Once advertising launches on the Site, as described in our Privacy Policy, the same applies to any ad-network content served alongside our own.
If your use of the Site causes a claim
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless mystaircalculator.com and its operators from any claim, loss, or expense — including reasonable legal fees — arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your reliance on a calculator's output in place of professional review or code verification as described in Section 3.
Which laws apply
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which mystaircalculator.com is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be handled in the courts with jurisdiction over that location, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
How you'll know something changed
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| 2026-07-01 | Initial publication alongside the Site's public launch. |
We may update these Terms as the Site evolves — for example, when advertising launches, as described in our Privacy Policy. When that happens, the "Effective date" and "Last reviewed" dates at the top of this page will update and this log will get a new row. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
Questions about these terms
Reach us through the Contact Us page, or directly at support@mystaircalculator.com, for anything related to these Terms of Service.
This page is a template, not legal advice. It's written to reflect the Site's actual current setup (free, no accounts, calculators framed as planning aids), but exact enforceability of liability limits and indemnification clauses depends on where you and your visitors are based. Have this reviewed by someone qualified before publishing it as final, and keep it in sync with the Privacy Policy as the Site changes.
